Counselling and Psychotherapy:

Addiction support for families and friends

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting ‘What About Me?’ and a warm welcome to my site.

I am an experienced Counsellor, Psychotherapist and well-being advocate, having worked with a broad range of mental health issues such as anxiety & depression, bereavement & loss, trauma, PTSD, low self-esteem, cancer recovery & diagnoses, workplace stress and life changes. Recently many clients have come to me struggling with anxiety, for a variety of reasons, so I offer a range of services to support individual needs and circumstances - my specialism and my passion is in offering support for anyone who is, or has been, affected by someone else’s addiction, particularly substances.

Addiction can be a really difficult and complicated area of mental health, not just for those who struggle with it but for families or friends who try to understand it. All too often it's the families and friends who are left to manage the highs and lows with very little if any support; the focus is on the person with the addiction, leaving many families wondering, ‘but what about me?’.

You might be a spouse, partner, child, sibling, grandparent or worried friend. Or perhaps you are someone who is quietly struggling with your own addiction or recovery. You may not have spoken about your difficulties or experiences before and need someone independent to talk to. Your issues may be current or historic, things that trouble you and perhaps have a negative impact on your life. If you're looking for help and support please do get in touch.

“Having sessions with Fiona really renewed my sense of purpose after a tricky year. She’s a warm, generous presence and instantly made me feel at home. She ensured that everything we discussed related back to my present situation and moving forwards. The mindfulness techniques she helped me develop are now a part of my daily self-care!.”
